Narrative Text

Hello, how are you? May you always be healthy. Wow, finally I can blog again. To be honest, I used to be. But now it's rare. Here I will explain about the narrative text.

Narrative text is a type of text in English to tell a story that has a series of connected chronological events. The purpose of this text is to entertain the reader about a story or stories.

A. Types of Narrative Text

Narrative text can be imaginary or factual. Here is an example of the genre of Narrative text:

Fairy tale

Mystery

Science fiction

Romance

Horror

Fable

Myths and legends

History

Slice of life

Personal experience and so forth.

B. Narrative Text Features

Using Action Verbs in Past Tenses.

Using certain nouns as personal pronouns.

Using adjectives that form a noun phrase.

Use conjunctions to order events.

C. Narrative Text Structure

The structure of narrative text focuses on a series of steps proposed to construct a text itself. In general, there are four stages in narrative text, namely:

Orientation

Orientation or commonly referred to as the introduction, contains about who, when, where a story is set.

Complications

Complication tells the beginning of the problem that causes the peak of the problem or what is commonly called the climax. This section usually involves the main character of the story.

Resolution

This part is the end of the story or a solution to the problem that occurs. Problems can be solved for better or worse which will make the story have a happy ending or vice versa.

Sometimes, some resolution is another problem to solve. This is deliberately made by the author to increase and maintain interest and suspense for the reader. Usually, this type of resolution is found in the mystery and horror genres.

Re-orientation

Section is the closing of a story that is optional. Re-orientation can contain moral lessons, suggestions or teachings from the author.

Part 1

Write a Narrative text, minimal 4 paragraph and attach picture in each paragraph and publish it in your blog.✅

A Boy Who Cried Wolf.

In a village, lived a carefree boy with his father. The boy’s father told him that he was old enough to watch over the sheep while they graze in the fields. Every day, he had to take the sheep to the grassy fields and watch them as they graze.

However, the boy was unhappy and didn’t want to take the sheep to the fields. He wanted to run and play, not watch the boring sheep graze in the field. So, he decided to have some fun. He cried, “Wolf! Wolf!” until the entire village came running with stones to chase away the wolf before it could eat any of the sheep.

When the villagers saw that there was no wolf, they left muttering under their breath about how the boy had wasted their time. The next day, the boy cried once more, “Wolf! Wolf!” and, again, the villagers rushed there to chase the wolf away.

The boy laughed at the fright he had caused. This time, the villagers left angrily. The third day, as the boy went up the small hill, he suddenly saw a wolf attacking his sheep. He cried as hard as he could, “Wolf! Wolf! Wolf!”, but not a single villager came to help him.
